Brush Pick-up: The Village of Tolono offers brush pick-up in the spring, summer and fall months (typically May - October). Pick-up starts the first Monday of every month, time and weather permitting. This typically takes the staff a few days to do the entire village so your patience is appreciated. The following standards must be followed in order for pick-up. a) all limbs must be less than six inches in diameter b) all limbs must be cut into lengths of no more than four feet c) no tree trunks or tree bases d) no leaves
Second Water Meters: The Village of Tolono offers residents to obtain a water meter for the use of watering yards, gardens etc. The upfront fee for this is $115.00 which is a $75.00 deposit and a $40.00 administrative fee. Pool meters can be obtained for 48hrs and the cost is $10 with no refund other than the sewer credit itself. Residents may obtain one by coming to the village office located at 507 W Strong between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday thought Friday. A sewer credit is given for any water that goes through the second meter. The meters are available May 1 and are typically asked to be returned by late September or early October.
Building Permits: The Village of Tolono does require building permits for most work being done on the outside of the home. Below is a listing of most common items when a permit is needed. Mail Boxes: Though you do not need a village permit to install a mail box you do need to contact the Tolono Post Office located at 113 N Vorcey or call 485-8955. The Postal Service makes an annual request every spring to repair and improve mail boxes because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes every year. Especially true after the effects of winter. Repairing mailboxes improves the appearance of our community and makes delivering and receiving mail safer for your carriers and you as customers. Animal Control: The Village of Tolono does have doggie do and a leash law. So be respect-ful to your neighbors and clean up after your pets and keep them restrained. STOP DO NOT CALL CHAMPAIGN COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL Instead call the Tolono Police Department at 485-8040 or 333-8911.
